AUTHOR’S NOTE

Palomar Mountain is one of thegrandest natural attractions of SouthernCalifornia. It is more than a mile inheight. From its lofty “look-outs”the beautiful bay of San Diego maybe descried, and also the distantislands of Santa Catalina and SanClemente. It abounds with gushingsprings, richly timbered table-lands,deep, rocky canyons, and rugged peaks. It is one of the favorite resorts of thewriter, who has spent many pleasanthours in camp near the mysterioushidden cabin above the “snow whiteclouds,” in company with his friend, the Rev. John L. Pitner, D. D., towhom these lines are inscribed.
