This book deals with that part of the French Rivierawhich is commanded by the Great Corniche Road—thepart between Nice and Mentone—together with suchplaces as are within easy reach of the Road.

I am obliged to the proprietors of the Times forpermission to reprint an article of mine contributedto that journal in March, 1920. It appears asChapter XXXVII.
